Healthy Tidbits to live by: Part 2
- Stay Hydrated:
- Bring a water bottle with you and sip throughout the day. I usually bring no less than 24 oz. If you're walking around at school, that's a easy size to carry and you can refill a fill station, or water fountain. However, if you don't want to fill up at a water fountain (which can sometimes be not the best water), go for some like 34 oz or more.
- Concerned if the water is filtered or not? bobble water bottles filter your water
- Have a sweet tooth?
- If you've got as sweet tooth, or just enjoy your treats, go for it. Just don't indulge everyday. Find something healthy, like a small square of dark chocolate (70% or higher). Lindt is my ultimate favorite, smooth, chocolatey, and the darker the chocolate, the yummier it gets!
- Don't be afraid to indulge everyone once in a while, just figure out how your body works. If you indulge on, say, a piece of cake, or two (or three) cupcakes, you may have to fit in more exercise the next few days. Don't beat yourself up about it though.

Healthy reasons to indulge in some dark chocolate
But, dark chocolate has proven to be healthier with no toxins. Some studies say get dark chocolate up to at least 65 percent dark chocolate, but then there's some that says 70 percent is better. There are tons of benefits to eating dark chocolate.
Dark chocolate has lots of fat in it, but it's good fat. Unlike, in milk chocolate, there's a lot of added sugars.
Some benefits:
- Dark chocolate is rich in flavonoids and antioxidants. It fights free radicals, which could be connected to aging. When there are too many free radicals hanging out in your body, it can cause diseases.
- It also helps to reduce the risk of heart disease. (That's a plus!)
- According to EveryDayHealth.com, a recent study explained that in women, those who ate at least two dark chocolate bars a week had a lower risk in getting a stroke.
Now, these are just three reasons why eating dark chocolate can be beneficial. Check out more at EveryDay Health's website.
